Amendments to Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules 2015

This update provides an overview of the amendments to the Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules 2015 (ASCR). The amendments to the ASCR are the result of reviews by the LCA between 2018 to 2020, surrounding the need to clarify existing ethical principles around conflicts of interest when providing short-term legal assistance services and Rule 42 of the ASCR. The Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Amendment Rules 2022 (2022 Rules) will amend the ASCR and will commence on 1 April 2022.
