Summary of key issues for consultation from the Privacy Act Review Report

by Practical Law Commercial
On 16 February 2023, the Privacy Act Review Report (PARR) was released for public consultation by the federal Attorney-General's Department, marking the next phase in the comprehensive review of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). The PARR makes 116 proposals for wide-ranging reforms to the Privacy Act. A number of proposals in the PARR have been flagged for further consultation and development. In addition, the Attorney-General's Department is seeking feedback on a number of specific issues through an online survey (Survey) to be completed by individuals in the course of making a submission in response to the PARR. This checklist provides a table setting out some key issues which have been flagged for further consultation in the PARR and the Survey, and links to the relevant sections of a more comprehensive summary of the PARR in Article, Privacy Act Review: Summary of proposed reforms from the Privacy Act Review Report.
